Grunin Center Brings You: ConSoul – Video Game Music - This Saturday

By Toms River Macaroni Kid January 16, 2023

ConSoul is an award-winning New York City based multi-genre ensemble that performs live renditions of memorable music from video game soundtracks and is coming the Grunin Center for the Arts on Saturday, February 25th at 1PM. Their style spans from funk, to jazz, to a full size big band. Video Games have been around for more that 40 years and the music is loved and enjoyed by a wide audience worldwide. ConSoul’s music bridges the gap between live music and video game music, and likewise is enjoyed by a wide audience. The program includes renditions of music from many loved franchises such as Mario Bros theme, Sonic the Hedgehog, Length of Zelda, and more.

Since 2015 the ensemble has performed in the NYC metro area as well as at MAGFest (Maryland), the largest video game music festival in the world, and other gaming themed events such as the Long Island Retro Gaming Expo. Undeterred by the Covid-19 pandemic, ConSoul has also performed live online streamed concerts for audiences around the world.

As a group, they’re widely acclaimed, earning awards from the Game Audio Network Guild, performing alongside famed “Cuphead” big band composer Kris Maddigan, and recently a video surfaced of the Pope enjoying ConSoul’s rendition of the cult classic song Megalovania from “Undertale.” Individually the band members are also notable figures in their field, having won Grammy awards, and worked with the likes of Kanye West, Jay Z and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
