5 Great Restaurants for Wings in Toms River, Brick and Beyond

From Brick down to Lacey - We Have Your Wing Picks for Sunday's Super Bowl

By Melissa Wudzki, Publisher, Toms River Macaroni Kid February 3, 2021

This Sunday is the biggest football game of the year, and that means one thing ... it's time for wings at the Jersey Shore!

The National Chicken Council estimated that more than 1.3 billion wings were eaten during the 2019 Super Bowl weekend — and that number just keeps going up year after year.

Toms River, Brick and Lacey are no exception in their love for wings. It seems everyone has their favorite place to order wings. Here are some of our favorite restaurants from Toms River and the surrounding area to order wings:

Caffrey's Tavern 440 Route 9 South, Lacey (609) 622-6240

Wings we love: Wow is all I can say! The crispiest wings I have ever tasted but without any heavy batter. Wings were meaty and very flavorful. The Garlic Parmesan were my favorite - tons of garlic and parmesan. My husband and son had the General Tso's and Buffalo. They loved them both. Buffalo was not overly spicy so if you are looking for more heat I would go with the Wow option. If you like a sweet Asian sauce - General Tso's is the sauce for you!

Wing options: Mild, Hot, Buffalo, Wow, General Tso's, Honey BBQ, Garlic Parmesan and Korean BBQ

Ordering options: Order Wings to go for the Superbowl (can be ordered same day) -  Half Tray 55.00 Full Tray $110.00

Burger 25 199 NJ-37 East, Toms River (732) 270-0025

Wings we love: Burger 25 makes all their own sauces in house and you can tell. First, I have to say, I'm a flats girl and there were a good amount of flats in the order so that was a big PLUS for me! All of the sauces were so full of flavor it was hard to pick a favorite. We tried all 5 kinds - Honey BQ, Buffalo, Nashville Hot, Jack Daniels and Thai. Best Honey BBQ wings I've ever had - you could taste every ounce of honey and bbq! Loved them so much I wouldn't share  My husband's favorite was the Jack Daniels, while my son's was the Thai. But all the wings were great - like a flavor explosion in your mouth!

Wing options: Honey BQ, Buffalo, Nashville Hot, Jack Daniels and Thai

Ordering options: Party Boxes are available - must be ordered by Saturday 5pm for Super Bowl. Boneless option also.

Wings & Things 214 West End Ave, Island Heights (732) 279-7578

Wings we love: With so many sauces to choose from, it was hard to decide which to try. I've had their wings a bunch of times and already have my favorites - the Garlic Parmesan and the Balsamic so I decided to try some thing different. We ordered Sweet Chili and Kickin' Bourbon. We also ordered some boneless with sauces on side so we could try a variety. The Sweet Chili were banging! So yummy - they had just enough sweet and spice! I typically don't eat spicy. I can take a tiny bit of heat but that's about it. My husband and son, on the other hand, love the heat! Mango Habernero was my husband's favorite - the spiciest of what he tried, but it had a touch a sweet.  His 2nd fave was the Spicy Honey BBQ! Be warned the Thai sauce has a quite bit of heat to it. I tried, liked it but then got that kick on the back end - a little too spicy for me. My husband loved that all the spicy sauces had a bit of sweet to them - it was a great flavor contrast!

Wing options: BBQ, Honey BBQ, Garlic Parmesan, Kickin' Bourbon, Teriyaki, Balsamic, Mild, Sweet Chili, Buffalo, Mango Habanero, Spicy Garlic Parmesan, Hot, Hotter, Make Me Cry

Ordering Options: Order up until Super Bowl

B2 Bistro + Bar 1250 Hooper Ave, Toms River (732) 797-2570

Wings we love: B2 offers traditional wings - honey bbq, buffalo or thai chili, but they also have Scarpariello Wings (a Tuscan House specialty). I had to have the Scarpariello! They are served with cherry peppers and have just a little heat. Savory and so delicious! If you are looking for something different from a traditional wing - this is the only choice! The flavor is addicting!

Wing options: Honey BBQ, Buffalo, Thai Chili, Scarpariello
Dine in or Order for Take Out

Chicken Town 2799 Hooper Ave Brick (732) 920-3870

Wings we love: It's no surprise that a place called Chicken Town made the list. We tried the Honey BBQ and Buffalo. The wings were super meaty and crispy.Barbecue wings are usually very saucy, which is yummy but it tends to make the wings not as crispy. Not the case with these. The Buffalo were probably the spiciest Buffalo from any of the others my husband and son tried. My husband and son actually fought over the last of these Buffalo wings. We weren't able to try the Wingettes. The smallest size order they come in is 50 and have to be ordered 24 hours in advance - but perfect for Super Bowl. I have heard these are the hidden gem of chicken wings in our area. I will leave that for our Macaroni readers to determine and let me know.

Wing options: Honey BBQ, Buffalo

Ordering Options: Only the Wingettes need to be ordered 24 hours in advance.

No matter who are rooting for this Sunday - at least you will have a full belly. Don't forget to mention Toms River Macaroni Kid when you place your order!
