A Chef It Up Birthday

Pizza's, Cupcakes and Blue Lemonade OH MY!

By Katie Ann Jessup, Toms River Macaroni Kid February 20, 2020

Earlier this month, I was lucky enough to throw my daughter’s birthday party at Chef It Up – Toms River.  I’ve never before seen such a successful party.  There was minimal down time, no parents yelling at their kids, and all the laughs you can imagine!

Setting up the party was one of the easiest conversations I’ve ever had.  Sue, the owner, was patient, explained everything in detail, and was sure to follow up quickly after our initial call.  After picking Package B, it was time to pick the menu.  The options are perfect for kids!  From making their own pizza’s to mud-cups, each menu offered a great variety for your kid’s big day.  Chef It Up is known to be peanut and tree nut free, but did you know they can also accommodate Gluten Free children as well?  With 2 potential GF guests, I was pleased to know they would be included in the fun!

When we arrived, the party area was set and ready to go.  Aprons for each little Chef were placed on a tables with crayons, ready to be personalized.  On its own table, there was a T-shirt for the birthday girl to take home with her, after each friend signed their name.  There was even a section for parents to sit and chat while having coffee and your choice of platter; I had chosen the veggie platters.

As the guests started to show up, they were directed to sign my daughter's special birthday T-shirt and then invited to take a seat at a table to begin coloring their personal aprons - which they got to take home as well.  Once everyone arrived, it was PIZZA time.  Each child made their own personal sized pizza - dough, sauce, cheese, and even tiny pepperonis!  While that baked, the kids got to have some fun making treats and candies dipped in chocolate.  YUMMY!  Next was the lemonade.  This, to me, was the best part!  Just watching each kid squeeze their own lemonade was, for some reason, hilarious!  Once the squeezing was complete, it was time to add food coloring to the lemonade, pink or blue!  There were lots of blue tongues to show for it! After eating the personal pizzas, another treat arrived – dirt cups and sour worms!  But nothing can compete with the final treat of the day… The Cupcake!  Each kid got to decorate their own cupcake - even coloring the icing, pink or purple.  Finally, it was time to sing Happy Birthday, and get some pictures by the birthday wall.

The party was well planned out, and kept the kids engaged the whole time.  And my daughter is excited to go back to try some of their walk-in activities.  We will definitely be referring our friends and family here!

Thank you Chef It Up for making this birthday so memorable!
