Our School Year Preschool and Pre-K Programs
The Peppermint Tree Child Development Center of Toms River started more than 40 years ago as a resource for families who wanted an engaging learning environment for their young children. Ever since our doors first opened in 1975, we have worked to foster independence and a love of learning in children ages 2-5. We provide hands on discovery learning experiences that build an educational foundation and create memories for a lifetime. And, we have come a long way through the years, to meet the latest curriculum standards and health and safety standards. We are proud to have been awarded a four-star rating by the State of NJ’s Quality Preschool Initiative, called Grow NJ Kids.

We use a research based, proven curriculum, The Creative Curriculum, which is the same curriculum selected by Toms River Regional Schools for Kindergarten preparation.
A few examples of memorable Peppermint Tree experiences include:
- Gardening: Each classroom has its own raised garden bed, where we grow a variety of vegetables. Working in the garden gives children a true sense of accomplishment and a heightened interest in healthy eating.
- Our annual Chick Hatching: Children witness the exciting miracle of chicks hatching and growing into fluffy chicks right in the classroom
- Monthly visits from Mr. Scott the Music Man, who provides musical experiences that expose children to many genres of music and heart thumping exercise, as well.
- Family Events, such as our Multicultural Feast, Ice Cream Social and Pajama Nights

The best way to see for yourself if our fabulous little school is right for you and your family, is to schedule a tour on a regular school day. You will have the opportunity to observe a class, and your child is welcome to participate in our activities during your visit, as well. To serve families with working parents, we provide an enriching and fun program to school-agers before and after school. During our Before School and After School programs, school-age children engage in both indoor and outdoor activities including board games, ball games, arts & crafts, puzzles, science activities and more. They can work on homework in the afternoon, as well.
Transportation is provided by the Toms River public school system for children attending Cedar Grove Elementary School and East Dover Elementary School.
Junior Camp: for kids 2 ½ years through Kindergarten
School-Agers Camp: for kids graduating 1st through 5th grades.

Our facility includes on-site swimming pools for daily water fun, expansive grounds where we’ll play ball games, have scavenger hunts, explore nature, and create arts & crafts. All throughout the summer we offer special themes, such as the Carnival, Treasure Hunt and Messy Science Day to add fun to each day. Our experienced staff provides plenty of choices for everyone, and fun for all.
