Exit 82 Theatre Company is proud to present its Creative and Performing Arts Academy!

Exit 82's CAPA Academy offers classes to children and young adults in grades Pre K - 12 including Acting, Musical Theatre, Audition Techniques, and Storybook Theatre. Young performers will hone their vocal, acting, dancing, and creative skills in an energetic and inspiring setting. Classes are held in both the spring and
fall semesters and end with a final showcase where students may exhibit their talents.

Storybook Theatre:
An excellent introduction for young children to the world of theatrical arts. We'll have fun singing, acting, playing games, and creating crafts inspired by a different well known story each week.

Creative Drama:
Students use role-playing and basic creative drama exercises to bring scenes and stories to life. They will participate in theatre games, improvisation and scene studies that encourage creativity, self-expression, and self-confidence.

Musical Theatre 1:
Students will learn the essentials of being a musical theatre performer through vocal, dance and acting techniques. By studying scenes, songs and choreography from various broadway musicals, students will get a first hand look at the fundamentals of Musical Theatre.

Advanced Acting
Self-discovery for the actor continues in scenes and more advanced acting exercises. This class is a complete theatre experience for teens that includes warm-up theatre games, improvisation, and acting exercises. With an emphasis on building collaborative and communication skills.

Contemporary Musical Theatre:
Hamilton, Rent, Wicked - These are just some examples of the wide variety of Contemporary Musical Theatre students will be exposed to. Through a combination of source material, vocal, dance and acting techniques, students will truly grasp the depth and joy of the contemporary musical theatre genre.

Breaking into the Business:
Whether auditioning for an arts program at a University or even an open call for a Broadway show, this is the course for you! This course explores the skills and techniques that encourage effective auditioning. Students will develop strategies for personal preparation and getting into a powerful place before even entering the audition space. Various situations will be simulated so the actors will develop the flexibility and confidence to handle any audition. Although this is an introductory course, it is primarily suitable for students with some prior theater training and experience.
